Correspondence between requesters and staff are subject to disclosure
pursuant to the CPRA and the Vallejo Sunshine Ordinance, as the
correspondence is comprised of public records. *See, e.g., *Cal. Gov. Code.
sec. 6252(g). While there are many ways to effect disclosure, the most
sensible and efficient means is to set the messages to public upon request.
Pursuant to Cal. Gov. Code § 6253.9(a), there is a strong argument that
publication on NextRequest is required, as that is where, how, and the
format in which these records are maintained.
In any event, we appreciate the courtesy. We wish to be transparent to the
community, just as wish to help Vallejo's city government be more
transparent, as well.

Dear Open Vallejo,
This is in progress. City staff are setting all requests and external correspondence to "published" for Open Vallejo requests.
Please note, the PRA does not require correspondence between a requester and the City to be "published." The City makes its communications with Open Vallejo public as a courtesy. Please also be advised staff have been making a point to publish its correspondence with you, so any failure to do so is inadvertent.
Thank you for your understanding.
